A new article is out in Readers Digest on line outlining 32 secrets for park visitors from park rangers.
Fellow ex park ranger/author Andy Lankford (Park Ranger Confidential) and myself were both interviewed by Michele Crouch for this article. You will find us mentioned at the end in the credits.
Readers Digest Park Ranger Secrets
Curious how interpreters are not interviewed. You all "danger rangers" get all the publicity. Little mention of history parks (the Mall was all I saw in a brief perusal). It's not all about the Crown Jewels. WE battlefields, forts, and historic sites outnumber you nature-theme parks what, 2 to 1? 3 to 1? Or with over 400 parks, 4 to 1? I am going on 29 years all in historic areas MORR, FOMC, HOBE, MANA, except now, at GREE, the "forgotten forest." But, I still interpret history, and assure visitors that there are no bears here in the MD piedmont, but there is a "Goatman!"
